What is PRP therapy?
PRP treatment is a hair treatment that uses human growth factors. This is the old generation of using growth factors for hair treatments. In this treatment, blood is taken from the patient and placed in test tubes inside a centrifuge. The centrifuge rotates the test tubes at high speed, thus creating a separation between the platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and the other, lower-quality blood fluids. The rich plasma is injected back into the patient's body through the scalp, thus strengthening and enriching the hair follicles.
What is that plasma rich in blood platelets?
This plasma is a "factory" of various growth factors. As mentioned, the plasma consists of blood platelets. These platelets are the first to reach areas of injury in order to secrete proteins that encourage the growth of blood vessels, the division of skin cells and the creation of additional new fibers. Some of these proteins are relevant to hair problems and enrich weak hair follicles.
What are growth factors?
Growth factors are the proteins that the platelets secrete in wound healing processes when it is necessary to create new skin to cover the injured area.
What is IPRF treatment?
I-PRF treatment is a hair treatment that uses human growth factors. This is the new generation of using growth factors for hair treatments. In this treatment, blood is taken from the patient and placed in test tubes inside a centrifuge. The centrifuge rotates at a relatively low speed (in relation to the PRP treatment), thus maintaining higher positive values than in the PRP treatment. At the end of the centrifugation work, a separation between 2 layers is created. In each test tube you can get up to 3 times more treatment material than PRP. The concentration of platelets and the amount of growth factors is up to 10 times higher than before the process, so the healing process can be up to 5 times more effective than PRP treatment. The IPRF behaves like a biological glue after about 10 minutes and therefore sticks like a net in the treatment area, the growth factors are released slowly and for a period of time between 10-14 days. For this reason, the effect of the growth factors is more prolonged than with PRP.
What is the difference between IPRF and PRP?
Both PRP (platelet-rich plasma) and PRF (platelet-rich fibrin) are platelet-based growth factor treatments that are extracted by centrifugation. iPRF differs from PRP in that no anticoagulant (blood thinner) is added during the rotation.
